Proudly family-owned and operated, Dinko Seafoods has been a pioneer in the Port Lincoln tuna industry since Dinko Lukin established the company in 1966. When Dinko passed away in July 2011, his wife Lukina Lukin continued the legacy of Dinko tuna farmers as a source of premium quality Southern Bluefin Tuna and seafood products.
But our story is about so much more than premium products. We are harvesters who care deeply about the industry we have operated in for more than 50 years, and the pristine waters of the Eyre Peninsula where we harvest.
We are committed to building a sustainable future for our oceans and their inhabitants; that’s why we focus on preserving the fish stocks in Australia’s Southern Ocean and meeting the strict quotas set by the government. In fact, Dinko’s lasting legacy is as the pioneer of the catching and ranching method of tuna farming.
This innovative tuna farming method helped replenish Southern Bluefin Tuna stocks and continues to protect this beautiful fish. Focused on increasing the weight of captured tuna during captivity rather than taking more fish from our oceans, this method has been instrumental in revitalising the Southern Bluefin Tuna population in South Australia.
Fed on a rich, natural diet that allows them to grow in size while maintaining their quality, we then harvest our caught Southern Bluefin Tuna using the humane Japanese ‘iki jime’ technique. This method minimises stress and maximises the quality of the fish.
By maximising the quality of the fish, we also maximise taste. Fat, healthy and happy Australian Bluefin Tuna equals luxurious and tender meat when eaten raw, and a silky, satin texture when grilled.
And that doesn’t happen by chance.
Every time you eat a piece of Dinko Southern Bluefin Tuna, that’s what you’ll get.
We make sure we preserve the natural flavour and freshness of the Southern Bluefin Tuna from water to plate: our Southern Bluefin Tuna is frozen fresh within hours of catch, removing the need for any harmful gases or preservatives to be used.
Our innovative super-freezing technology, which freezes our catch to minus 60 degrees Celsius, guarantees culinary excellence and freshness and locks in the famous flavour and texture. And while we harvest from April to July each year, this technology allows us to supply premium quality tuna all year round.
From succulent and rich Southern Bluefin Tuna to delicious MSC certified Spencer Gulf King Prawns to whole sardines, our product offerings are of the highest quality.
And because we know it’s hard to choose sometimes, we have brought together a wide selection in our seafood hampers. Perfect for families, caterers, or those who simply can’t get enough of our fresh seafood, our hampers are perfect for seafood lovers… all year round.
