Current opportunities

Master/Skipper

Most important and an integral part of the team, the master/skipper ensures daily operations of the vessel are conducted efficiently, whilst maintaining excellence in safety, reliability and crew supervision.

Tasks include:

  • Wild catch for both inshore and offshore fisheries
  • Inshore aquaculture operations
  • Adhering to all relevant regulatory obligations
  • Ensuring vessel is seaworthy and fit for working operations
  • Responsibility for the maintenance and appearance of the vessel, which includes cleanliness and general husbandry
  • Reviewing onboard contingency plans and vessel procedures
  • Having a pleasant and helpful disposition and ensuring a happy atmosphere.

Marine Engineer

Do you love hands-on, practical work with engines and machinery? Our engineers are vital for the effective functioning of the vessel and all our machinery and equipment, so this could be the role for you.

Tasks include:

  • Maintaining the mechanical propulsion systems of the marine vessel, including the engines, pumps, and generators
  • Maintaining the electrical, refrigeration, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems
  • Performing general maintenance and repair work for other systems and maintain the vessel’s inventory of mechanical parts and supplies
  • Responsibility for the maintenance and appearance of the engine room, which includes cleanliness and general husbandry of the engine room
  • Overseeing the operation and maintenance of the marine vessel’s mechanical and electrical systems.

Deckhands

A unique career path that offers exciting and rewarding career opportunities, deckhands support the smooth operation of our various inshore and offshore commercial sea vessels. A central part of our team, deckhands operate and maintain equipment, and assist with docking and maintenance.

Tasks include:

  • Preparing the deck areas and working equipment
  • Operating the gear for working duties
  • Moving product and equipment
  • Assist with changing nets
  • Maintaining nets and equipment
  • Helping to ensure the vessel is kept clean and tidy.

Seafood Processing Attendant

Our seafood processing attendants are an important part of our team, ensuring that all Dinko Seafood products meet our high standards before reaching our customers.

Tasks include:

  • Tuna processing and loining or similar processing role
  • Prawn processing and peeling
  • Sardine processing
  • Unload and load of seafood products
  • Monitoring of product quality and traceability
  • Labelling cartons, eskies, use by/best before dates
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the process rooms and freezer rooms.

Commercial Divers

An integral part of our team, the divers work to keep our operations safe, efficient and effective in the catching of tuna and fish husbandry processes.

Diving operations are carried out both inshore and at sea, and will include observing the behaviour of Southern Bluefin Tuna, conducting net inspections and any necessary net repairs.

Safe practices and excellent team work are a must for this position.

Essential criteria:

  • Current ADAS Diver Part 2 or Certificate III in Aquaculture
  • Be available for tuna fishing and towing operations off the coast of Port Lincoln
  • Experience in aquaculture operations is advantageous.
