Continuing Dinko’s Legacy of Innovation

Founded in 1966 by tuna-farming innovator Dinko Lukin in Port Lincoln, SA, the company introduced the world to the now-famous “catching and ranching” method of tuna farming. This ingenious approach, where select young tuna are caught and then sustainably ranched to maturity, revolutionised the industry and set new benchmarks for quality and sustainability. When Dinko Lukin passed away in 2011, his wife Lukina Lukin took the helm, continuing his legacy of innovation as the first female “tuna boss” in the industry.

Under her leadership, Dinko Seafoods remains a proud family-owned business dedicated to the same pioneering spirit and passion for quality. Innovation has been a driving force from the very beginning and always will be…it’s a core part of the Dinko difference.

Sustainability from Ocean to Tin

Dinko Seafoods is fully accredited with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) for sustainable fishing, the Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT) for quota management, and Friend of the Sea, and is a proud member of the Dolphin Safe tuna program. These certifications and partnerships mean our practices meet the highest international standards, from protecting tuna populations and other marine life, to ensuring every catch is responsibly sourced.

We even feed our ranched tuna on MSC-certified sustainable sardines to maintain wild-like nutrition and flavour. Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us; it’s a commitment at every step, so you can trust that each Dinko tuna tin has been produced with respect for the oceans and future generations.
